Christmas Prophecy

This is a simple outline of a short sermon surrounding Christmas:
• Prophecy One
Prophecy: Genesis 3:15 – Fulfillment: Galatians 4:4
• Prophecy Two
Prophecy: Isaiah 7:14 – Fulfillment: Matthew 1:18–23
• Prophecy Three
Prophecy: Micah 5:2 – Fulfillment: Luke 2:1–7

Three things to think about:

1. From the garden, God is actively involved in the reversing of sin’s grip on humanity.

2. God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

3. God is involved in the small details of our lives.

As we walk in a world that can, at times, be dark and cold we have a great light that gives us hope and we are to share that hope this Christmas season.

Closing: Isaiah 9:2, 6-7

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned… …For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called – Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
