Culture & Choices

Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible but not everything is constructive. 1 Corinthians 10:23 (see 6:23 as well)

In this passage Paul addresses some in the church who are adopting culture and going after whatever they desire. For the most part, we are bombarded with this way of thinking on a daily basis. However, this way of think is/should be backwards for those who believe.

We all at times think that we can do anything we please, whenever we want but Paul gives us insight to this way of thinking. Yes, we can make any choice we want but not everything we choose is beneficial or constructive to ourselves and those around us.

Do I struggle with the cultures way of thinking? Of course, but I know that my life should be about Christ and His sacrifice for the sins of the world. My choices not only affect me but my witness to those around me.
